The State Library of Queensland would like to invite the Australian South Sea Islander Community to a special White Gloves Experience on Sunday 21st October 2018.

A White Gloves Experience is an opportunity for the community to look at original collection material identified as part of the Australian South Sea Islander collections.  Collection items will be pulled out of the repository and will include a range of material including photographs, documentation, reports, publications and maps connected to Australian South Sea Islander history and heritage.

The White Gloves Experience is part of the development of a new Australian South Sea Islander exhibition to be held at the State Library of Queensland.

The exhibition will explore the living history of Australian South Sea Islanders, and draw upon the State Library of Queensland collections including images, books and documentation collected over the last 150 years. The collections, especially the original material, will be the back drop to a conversation about the significant contributions Australian South Sea Islanders have made to Queensland’s cultural landscape.

Come and find out more information about the exhibition and explore the collections.   It will be a good day to share stories and memories so make sure you invite your friends, family and other community members.
