State Library’s kuril dhagun will again be celebrating Murri Christmas at Maiwar Green on Saturday 2 December.
This year’s theme celebrates the Queensland lifestyle and focuses on Sun, Sand and Water – three things associated with Christmas in Queensland. There will be a host of activities on the day with the highlight being the arrival of Murri Claus.
Stories, songs and dance will be some of the summertime fun on the day. This year, participants will also have the opportunity to learn some local Aboriginal words!
Keeping with the theme of the event, State Library has compiled a list of words from the main South East Queensland Aboriginal languages for ‘sun’, ‘sand’ and water’ – the full list can be found on the SLQ webpages.
