Indigenous Knowledge Centres (IKCs)
Indigenous Knowledge Centres (IKCs) are owned, managed and staffed by local Aboriginal councils or the Torres Strait Island Regional Council. State Library of Queensland funds and facilitates the establishment of these centres, and provides ongoing support through staff training and delivery of programs to sustain knowledge transfer. There is a network of 22 IKCs in remote and regional communities: across Cape York, the Northern Peninsula. Area, the islands of the Torres Strait, Central Queensland and at Cherbourg in South East Queensland. The IKCs work in their communities to document and record the local histories, stories and languages as part of their local collections. Indigenous Language Centres
There are several Indigenous Language Centres in Queensland that support the revival and maintenance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages. Their activities may include language research, exhibitions and community training as well as the recording and/or documentation of Indigenous languages in Queensland.

Torres Strait Traditional Languages Centre
The Torres Strait Regional Authority (TSRA) is supporting language revival across the Torres Strait region and has established the Torres Strait Traditional Languages Centre to coordinate regional and community-specific efforts to retrieve, record and research traditional languages.

Desert Channels Queensland (Longreach) Desert Channels Queensland Inc (DCQ) is a community-based natural resource management body that works to ensure a sustainable social, economic and environmental future for the Queensland section of the Lake Eyre Basin. The Torres Strait Island Regional Authority (Thursday Island) The TSRA aims to improve the lifestyle and wellbeing of the Torres Strait Islander and Aboriginal people living in the Torres Strait region.
