Today, kuril dhagun says ‘goodbye for now’ to Freja Carmichael, our contract Exhibition Curator who has been working with us over the past two years on Art of the Skins (2015-2016) and the recently opened exhibition Jabu Birriny (land and sea).
In her own words:
Today is my last day with kuril dhagun, and wow what an amazing time it has been working here. Recently, I was awarded the Macquarie Group First Nations emerging curatorial award and will be keeping busy with this fellowship alongside my curatorial work at Redland Art Gallery and other exciting projects!
Working at kuril dhagun has been an enriching experience and I feel so very blessed by the connections I have made. I am leaving today with so many wonderful memories and will especially cherish my times spent with Elders and community members, listening to their stories and visiting their special places. Such an honour.
kuril dhagun has been a huge support and nurturer to me and I look forward to carrying my time here in my onward journey. I will really miss the beautiful team here, but won’t be too far away, and will always be a proud part of the extended kuril dhagun family!
