Jautia Cora joins kuril dhagun temporarily in the Program Assistant role. Come say hi next time you’re at SLQ.
Tell us about yourself?
Hi, I am Jautia pronounced (Ja-tee-ya). I am a proud Ugarapul woman who grew up in Logan and has recently moved back to country at Redbank. I have worked in Shopping Centre Management for the last 3 years and various administration roles beforehand.
What will you be doing at SLQ?
I have been assisting the kuril dhagun team the last few weeks with various administration duties and getting back into routine for the New Year. I can’t wait to learn and help a lot more within the next couple of weeks.
What do you do in your spare time?
I am very family orientated and usually plan my weekends around them. I visit my nieces, nephews, aunties and uncles a lot. If I am not baby-sitting I like to go down to the rivers and have a swim or kayak if it’s good weather. Besides that I like to relax and take my dog on walks and watch some Netflix.
What inspires you?
My mother inspires me every single day; she is the biggest role model that I look up to. Not only has she raised me to be the young woman I am today but she is forever guiding me in the right direction and teaching me about culture and life. Mum raised us kids by herself and maintained a full time job since I was 8 months old and went back to University. I could go on and on about my amazing mother but I hope to be half the woman she is when I am a mother.
What do you hope to get out of your time at SLQ?
I hope to learn more about the library and what it has to offer. I am still finding my way around but every day I am learning something new. I am grateful for the short time I have been here and can’t wait to gain some skills and learn from my colleagues about the various departments here.
