Guest blogger – Fiona Redhead – Coordinator, Nnub
Nnub is digital community noticeboard and is based on the idea of a traditional community noticeboard as a place for anyone to share posts with a community. Nnub: Family History and Local History – Queensland website is available online and is also integrated with Twitter.
People that typically post to Nnub include organisations and groups that hold seminars, exhibitions, and manage history records, and people that need help with their history research. Posts appear on the Web site and are also tweeted out to over 300 Twitter followers.
In addition, a bi-weekly email digest is sent out to over 400 people. The digest includes links to the latest posts and is a great way to get history events or queries out to people with a keen interest in family and local history for Queensland. Queries about history research are a favourite for people to respond to – this is an excellent group to answer your queries and pick up tips and tricks from. Responses are often from organisations and people with valuable experience and know how.
You can post by registering on the Web site or by sending an email to familyhistory[AT]nnub.net. Please don’t address the email to anyone, just write it as you’d like it to appear and you can attach images or pdf files. You can register to receive the digest at http://familyhistory.nnub.net/posts/promote
