The Queensland Heritage Council have announced that the Mount Morgan State High School is the latest addition to the Queensland Heritage Register. The Queensland Heritage Register is a list of places that have cultural heritage significance to the people of Queensland.
The building, situated on the corner of Central and Bedsor Streets, was constructed in 1908, and was opened as the Mount Morgan Technical College. In 1913, the two-storey Science Block and Workshop was added to the site, with an extension added in 1918.
The Mount Morgan State High School was established at the site in 1912 and shared the premises with the Technical College. The school was one of the first six high schools to be opened in Queensland.
