This real estate map from 1925 advertises 99 allotments of land for sale at Raineys Hill Top Park Estate, located today in the Brisbane suburb of Chermside. The allotments were situated on Rode Road, Hilltop Avenue, Rainey Street, Wallace Street, Robert Street (now Farnell Street) and Bruce Street (now Ethel Street).

Prior to the sale extensive publicity was published in Brisbane newspapers.

“[Raineys Hill Top Park] is situated on a beautiful grassy eminence in a dominating position, commanding ideal views, free from dust, and delightfully cool.” (The Telegraph, December 9, 1925)

A public auction was held at the ground on the afternoon of December 12, 1925. The results of the sale were published in the The Daily Mail newspaper.

“Messrs Thornton and Pearce report having sold 54 allotments in the Rainey Estate, Rode Road, Kedron, for a total of £2,600. The prices ranged from £31 to £56 [approximately $2,450 to $4,415 today], the higher price being for land facing Robert Street.” (The Daily Mail, December 15, 1925)
