State Library’s Young People and Families team is excited to open an Expression of Interest seeking two regional public libraries to host the Young Writers Camp, an intensive creative writing working for young people aged 15-17.
Young Writers Camp is three inspired days of creativity and collaboration, where participants will explore and develop their love of writing in a fun, relaxed, and supportive learning environment. To date, the Young Writers Camp has taken place annually at State Library of Queensland in South Brisbane, but in 2018 will be expanding into communities across the state.
“The Young Writers Camp changed my writing for the better. It has changed in focus and in style. My writing has improved ten-fold, and I am more confident than ever to share it.” – Young Writers Camp Participant, Brisbane 2017
As a host, your library would commit to hosting the Young Writers Camp during the April 2018 school holidays, and will play a vital role in working with State Library staff and contractors to tailor the workshop program to your community. Your library would also work to engage up to 20 participants between the ages of 15-17 from the local community, and provide space and technical resources for the delivery of Young Writers Camp, which takes place in a non-residential day camp format.
In return, State Library will resource the Young Writers Camp program in each regional library, including materials and catering expenses, as well as fees, travel, accommodation and other expenses for two Young Writers Camp facilitators.

Expressions of Interest are due by C.O.B, Friday November 10.
