Have you heard about Be Connected? It’s a new initiative, funded by the Australian Government to support digital literacy for older Australians. Be Connected comprises a website with advice and learning resources and a grants program for which libraries and other community-based providers can submit applications to secure funding. The first step is to sign up as a member of the Be Connected Network, coordinated by the Good Things Foundation.
You have the opportunity to apply for an activation grant of $1,500, however, you will probably be more interested in the following round of funding, which will open at the end of this year, offering $5,000-$15,000 for digital literacy programs. These grants can be scaled up depending on the number of libraries in your service.
Many libraries are already running Tech Savvy Seniors digital literacy classes. Be Connected is seen as a complementary program, which will continue through to June 2020.
