Host a volunteer fair at your library

Are you looking for new ways to attract members of your community into your library? Consider hosting a Volunteer Fair. The model of a volunteer fair is straightforward: prospective volunteers and non-profit organisations in need of volunteers come together. All your library needs is space, tables, and chairs. Benefits for your library include developing closer relations with local organisations and facilitating community engagement with current and new library clients. The non-profit organisations benefit from the opportunity to recruit students, stay-at-home parents, seniors, and people of all backgrounds looking to get back into the workforce.

Amy Klein, Reference Librarian at the Worcester Public Library, shares her experience after successfully hosting the library’s Fourth Annual Volunteer Fair.

Here are some other public libraries hosting volunteer fairs: Hawaiʻi State Public Library System; Plainfield Public Library; Rowley Public Library; Eisenhower Public Library; and Islip Public Library.
