State Library of Queensland (State Library) now has more than 280 book club sets available for loan to book clubs registered at their local Queensland public library or Indigenous Knowledge Centre (IKC).
There are 15 new titles including: The Ruin by Dervla McTiernan; Force of Nature by Jane Harper; Shepherd’s Hut by Tim Winton; and Manhattan Beach by Jennifer Egan.
Each set contains 10 copies of the same title. The full list of titles is available on the website and is updated with the new titles. We recommend you let your book club co-ordinator know that the previous list is no longer current.
Some new titles are recent award winners such as Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman the debut novel that became a publishing sensation and recently named Book of the Year at the British Book Awards and Costa First Novel Award 2018. Terra Nullius was shortlisted for the 2018 Stella Prize and winner of 2016 black&write! Fellowship.
Margaret Atwood’s 1985 classic and current popular TV series The Handmaid’s Tale; Australian classic Picnic at Hanging Rock by Joan Lindsay and My Family and Other Animals by Gerald Durrell are recently added old favourites.
We can’t guarantee a delivery date so get your book club co-ordinators to order several sets at a time for a better chance of receiving a title they like. Visit the online catalogue and select a title that is showing on the shelf at State Library Cannon Hill for a quick delivery. The legend at the foot of the list of titles will help identify non-fiction titles and titles with Indigenous content.
