There are hours of fun for all the family with Kanopy the on- demand film streaming service now available from State Library of Queensland (State Library). Kanopy offers access to a large, curated catalogue of educational, entertaining, and enriching films. State Library now provides this service for free to all Queensland public library, Indigenous Knowledge Centres and State Library members.
Members can stream 10 films or program episodes per month. There are more than 30,000 films across a range of genres with hundreds of new films added every month. Choose from popular movies, documentaries on science, health, business, and arts; rare and hard-to-find titles and classic films with great directors.
Find Australian films such a Jasper Jones, Tracks, Mad Max and Kokoda as well as world cinema from Germany, Asia and France and more.
There are films suitable for adults and children including popular titles such as The Dressmaker, Wake in Fright, Where the Wild Things Are, Paper Planes and titles from ABC Kids. Kanopy Kids categories include TV Series, Learning Languages, Animated Storybooks, Anime Favourites, Classic Films, and Movies for the Whole Family.
To choose a film, simply browse, use the search facility or sort by film duration, subject, supplier, year of production, or language.
To begin watching, log in with your library details, create a profile, and start watching movies and documentaries from any computer, television, mobile device or platform by downloading the Kanopy app for iOS, Android, AppleTV or Chromecast.
Staff training will be via 4 webinars delivered in early August 2018, and we will provide promotional material and ideas to help introduce your members to this fantastic new library service.
