One in five Queenslanders has a disability, and many face barriers to participating in their community.
Everyone has a role to play in making people with disability feel welcome, included, valued and respected as members of our communities.
The new All Abilities Queensland website includes practical ideas to help you make your library or Indigenous Knowledge Centre (IKC) more inclusive.
The website was created as part of All Abilities Queensland: opportunities for all, the state government’s plan for a welcoming and inclusive Queensland.
The plan’s vision of “opportunities for all Queenslanders” has strong links to the intent of Realising our potential: A vision for Queensland public libraries for libraries and IKCs to become active players in Queensland communities by investing in citizen wellbeing, and providing deeply local and inclusive approaches to outcomes for Queensland communities.
In celebration of Disability Action Week, we’d love to share stories of how your library or IKC is creating equal opportunities for all.
