The introduction of Sphero SPRK+ robotics have added a new and exciting dimension to Maker Space activities at Cannonvale Library and were given an enthusiastic thumbs-up by kids, parents, and staff when launched at the after-school maker session on Thursday 16 May 2019 in the lead up to Library and Information Week.
The Sphero brings an additional WOW factor to our library and provides a welcome extension to our range of in-library ‘tech toys’. They will be regularly used to support informal learning through play at Maker Space and school holiday activities, as well as starring at special events.
We look forward to engaging with members of our wider community as they experience Sphero and other new technologies throughout the library year, especially during various promoted ‘Weeks’ such as Library and Information Week, Science Week, Adult Learners Week, Seniors Week etc., when people of all ages drop in to play, explore, learn and have fun – and find out more about their local library.
The purchase of our Sphero SPRK + Education 12 Pack was made possible by financial assistance from the Queensland Government, through State Library of Queensland’s Realising our Potential Micro Grants Program. We were fortunate that our grant funding was able to additionally cover acquisition of a Sphero Mini and Sphero Chariot, thanks to supplier discount for multiple purchase of Sphero for three branches of Whitsunday Regional Libraries.
Thank you State Library 🙂
