Key note speakers will include business and media personality Suzie Lightfoot, librarian/researcher Edward Luca and award-winning organisational psychologist Dr Amantha Imber.

State Library Advocacy Masterclass

State Library’s QPLA Masterclass: Advocacy for Public Libraries will be held Wednesday 11 September, 3-5pm, and is designed for a broad range of library and local government staff, particularly those in leadership roles.

Advocacy is a critical skill that helps build support for public libraries and demonstrates the many ways they are important to their communities. This session will provide an overview of public library advocacy and its importance to long-term support for library services.

Participants will also learn how to use evidence and stories to communicate the value of public libraries along with tools, tips and practical resources to help activate library advocacy work.

People responsible for policy, reporting, communication, grant writing or stakeholder engagement will also benefit from attending.

The workshop will be facilitated by Louise Denoon, Executive Director Public Libraries and Engagement, State Library of Queensland and Kate Johnson A/Manager, Local Government Coordination, State Library of Queensland (pictured above). Conference attendees can register for the masterclass via Eventbrite.
