Each week, we’ll email a short, practical idea for public library and IKC staff who deliver early literacy sessions. The tips are designed to be simple and actionable across a variety of settings. You’ll find the first one below:
Remembering lots of new melodies can be challenging but there is a way to freshen up your song and rhyme repertoire without having to learn new songs.
Use a song you know well and change the words to suit your session. Take The Wheels on the Bus melody for example and use it for a parachute action song.
The parachute goes up and down, up and down, up and down
The parachute goes up and down, all day long.
The parachute goes shake, shake, shake
Shake, shake, shake, Shake, shake, shake
The parachute goes shake, shake, shake, all day long.
These tips will be shared weekly to the First 5 Forever mailing list. If you are not already a subscriber, request to join at the email address below.
We would also welcome tips from any of you. Feel free to send through to email@example.com or share your ideas to the Facebook F5F Library and Community Network page. We will then share your ideas with the rest of the network.
