Device Charging Stations a success at North Burnett Regional Council

North Burnett Regional Council (NBRC) libraries were fortunate to be awarded a Realising Our Potential Micro-Grant from the State Library of Queensland. The grant enabled the NBRC Libraries to purchase and install three PC Locs IQ10 Charging stations in three branches across the region: Gayndah, Monto and Mt Perry.

North Burnett Libraries have only recently introduced tablets (e.g. iPads) as a resource in our six libraries for our customers to use as an alternative technology resource to our public access computers and in library programming. Whilst the inclusion of devices in our libraries will improve service provision and access to technology, we were faced with the challenge of how we would securely store and charge multiple tablets simultaneously with limited electrical power points along with space limitations in our branch locations.

The installation of the charging stations has alleviated these challenges and will go a long way to ensure the longevity and security of our tablets and any future tablet purchases. It will also ensure that our library customers have access to charged equipment when visiting our libraries and enjoy the user experience.

We are extremely grateful to State Library for awarding Council a Micro Grant to purchase and install these charging stations. Our ability to purchase this equipment may not have been possible without the support from State Library.
