Orders close Friday 11 October.
As part of the First 5 Forever Community Literacy Project , State Library of Queensland is making play-based resources available to all Queensland public libraries and IKCs. Libraries can select from a list of more than 200 play based resources including creative and dramatic play, sensory and developmental play, and construction and puzzle play items.
Simply choose the resources you want to the amount allocated for your library from the list provided. Select the resources that will best support talking, reading, singing and playing and invite interactions between children and adults, both in library spaces and during outreach events
Help choosing your resources
These tip sheets provide suggestions of ways a selection of the resources available can provide links to collections and be implemented in your sessions.
A visual list of the resources is here.
The recent webinar Early Literacy in Action provides an overview of the resources available and their suggested use. Watch the video again to find out how these resources can be used in your library to support talking, playing, reading and singing.
How to find your council allocation
State Library sent a letter to each library manager via email with:
• an outline of the project,
• the resources order form
• a letter of agreement for the allocation of funds
The order form is in Excel and calculates the total cost of items selected as they are entered in the spreadsheet.
Each Council will also receive a First 5 Forever pull up banner as a part of their allocation
Please select the items you want and return your order form to State Library of Queensland by Friday 11 October.
Orders will be purchased in bulk and delivered directly to each council or library service.
Please phone or email the Community Literacy Project (CLP) team for more ideas or advice on what to order:
