Celebrating 10 years in our transformed building

Last month State Library held a number of events to celebrate ten years since the opening of our transformed library building in 2006. The showcase event was our SLQ Celebrates Market Day on November 25. This fantastic event attracted almost 1000 people who enjoyed live music, childrens’ entertainment and BrisStyle market stalls.

The day featured:

  • 78 Market Stalls, an increase of 20 from our Big Day of Belonging event in June
  • Engaged 5 musical groups that usually participate in the Music on Mondays volunteer program, providing them with paid work and a wonderful promotion opportunity

  • Collaborated with SLQ Partner School of Hard Knocks to provide performance opportunity for Word on the Street participants: A School of Hard Knocks creative writing program held weekly at The Edge, and Absolutely Everybody Choir
