The ALA-Showcase is a space where you can now explore a selection of artists’ books on various topics or themes exhibited throughout the year.
In June we selected sculptural works and in late July, preparation was underway by staff from Collection Preservation, to acquire the custom made gallery hanging track and frames, ready for the next installation.
Throughout August and to coincide with the Royal Queensland Show, the inspirational work of Caitlin Sheedy “My journey through the Ekka, August 2013” will be on display. The work is an unbound artist’s book with 55 numbered leaves of original drawings, hand coloured with gouache and watercolour on watercolour paper. When laid out side to side the work forms a continuous narrative with each page exactly meeting the next. The artist’s book provides a visual record of the many elements that comprise a day at the Ekka.
There will be a number of other works on display
Sarah Bowen; Darren Bryant; Liz Deckers; Rebekah Evans; Louise Irving; Joanna Kambourian; Tim Mosely
